"The Wedding People," by Alison Espach, is a novel that has a little something for everyone. This book has a blend of dark humor, hope, and love. The story is so unexpected and unique.
The book starts with Phoebe Stone, the main character, arriving at the Cornwall Inn, in Newport, Rhode Island, completely alone with zero intention of ever leaving. Phoebe's plans are hindered when she meets Lila, a bridezilla who has rented out the hotel for her wedding week.
Lila is not happy to discover Phoebe has checked in at the hotel, and even less happy when she learns about Phoebe's intentions. As a way to stop Phoebe from ruining her wedding day, Lila insists on Phoebe joining her wedding party.
When Phoebe does so, she finds herself emerged in the chaos of the wedding party, among strangers and all of their drama. Phoebe also finds herself falling for someone, only it is someone who is completely forbidden to her.
"The Wedding People" is both funny and devastating. Who knew just how many life lessons can emerge from a wedding.
