What value does life have if you can leave no mark?
This is the question Addie LaRue faces after making a desperate deal to live forever. But there is a catch - no one will remember her. Turn around, and she is forgotten. As part of her deal, the memory of her is erased by the mysterious dark stranger who owns her soul.
After 300 years of suffering the consequences of her bargain, Addie meets Henry Strauss. Henry not only remembers her, but cherishes her for the few months they have together. The pair share an unbreakable love until the reason he can remember her is revealed and payment must be made.
I loved how this book traveled through 18th century France, 19th century Venice and London, and present day New York. Schwab incorporates a cast of historic geniuses who have all made their own deals to achieve greatness. Through it all, Addie perseveres until she has to make the ultimate choice.
Unlike the title suggests, you will have a hard time forgetting Addie LaRue. Courageous, stubborn, and optimistic, Addie will haunt you long after you finish this book.
