Sandra Boynton churns books out, has authored and illustrated a boatload. She continues to have a gift for writing books that captivate the attention of lap-sitters, as well as their readers.

“Hey! Look at Your” scores once more, a “captivating mirror book” narrated in rhyme by a bunch of zany barnyard animals who invite little ones to mimic the sound each animal makes. A high-quality mirror facing the featured animal offers a spot-on reflection of baby.

A cow kicks off the fun, a black and white wonder with a soft pink nose, rife with compliments for baby: “Oh little one! Little one! Look! Look at YOU! What a fabulous face. Can you give a big MOO?”

Next up is a sheep. The cute wolly asks, “Can you BAA like a SHEEP? It’s the cool thing to do.”

But not as cool as when duck offers its no-hole-barred invite: “Do you know who I am. I’m THE VERY LOUD DUCK! We can shout: ‘QUACK QUACK QUACK!’” One can almost imagine the giggles sure to erupt when duck appears, upstaging the chicken and piggy that follow up duck’s antics.

The last page of “Hey! Look at You!” might initially perplex baby because the mirror is covered. Never fear, nimble little fingers will soon figure out how to lift the tab and see the mirror once again. What an ingenious way to end a clever book that makes reading great fun.
